This antique French 18k drum charm appears to be modeled by William Morris Hunt’s “Drummer Boy” painting. According to MFABoston, where the painting is currently secured, “Drummer Boy” was painted early on in the war to depict a barefoot boy beating a drum for volunteer soldiers in support of the anti-slavery beliefs of president Abraham Lincoln. So what appears to be an innocent and beautiful drum with white and bright red enamel is actually a symbolic little charm and statement piece to wear around your neck or on a bracelet.

Materials: 18k gold and enamel.

Measurement: Drum is approx 7x10.1mm (will dangle longer with loop and bale).

Hallmarks: French eagle head punch and a maker’s mark with what appears to depict the letter ‘c’, a star and a ‘d’.

Condition: Surface scratches and some imperfections on enamel appropriate to age. Please view photos for condition report and feel free to ask any questions prior to purchase.
