This antique intaglio ring features a goat on a carnelian gemstone surrounded by emeralds. Depending on culture and religion, goats can often be symbolic of fertility, good luck, or stoicism; and the original owner that commissioned this ring likely felt a deep connection with the symbolic nature of this animal…or perhaps he/she was even a wealthy farmer! It’s hard to find intaglio rings with multiple stones and stylized in such a feminine design in mind as this ring was made. It is finished off with elegantly styled gold shanks that perfectly frame this tri-stone, early-Victorian ring.
